Why do people hate this so much?

I thought it was a great movie, lot of unexpected twists and some scenes were awesome.
Does it have to do with average people seeing how rich kids live on campus through unearned wealth? -

it was just incredibly boring.. none of the characters were interesting enough to even be pissed at or whatever, i just couldn't care less about anybody or anything that ever appeared on screen. just a big blob of blah, great for when you wanna get some sleep though

Yeah, this movie does NOTHING right. The characters, the pacing, the directing, the writing, the plot turns, all of it was made without any sort of attention to detail or respect for the audience.
They figured if they threw in enough cute boy actors and twists n turns that it's audience wouldn't notice what a truly terrible movie this is. Well, as the rating shows, it clearly didn't work. This movie sucks in every sense of the word. You couldn't PAY ME to watch it again yes, it is that bad.

I thought to myself, was killing Will really necessary? I mean they could have called the police and he would have been arrested for trespassing after receiving treatment. And if their worried about Caleb being charged they had video evidence. At the end I found Calebs suicide attempt a tad over dramatic.
