Do you still respect Travolta (after watching this film?)

I don't respect him at all. I actually respected him because he was so cool in Staying Alive but now I have no respect for him. His acting was bad and his choice of religion is bad. How about you? Do you respect Travolta? Discuss, please.

That would presume that I had any respect for Travolta to begin with. The thing I like about Travolta is that he usually gets to die in a cool way. Riddled with bullets from an uzi and dies on a toilet in Pulp Fiction, Shot with a harpoon gun and that sticks to a wall in Face/Off and finally, shot with a missile in Broken Arrow. If he stuck to movies like that, he'd have a fine carrer dieing in movies, like Lance Henrickson.

C'mon, respect John Travolta? Does anyone outside of Scientology and/or the hollywood community really respect this hack?
Honestly, what a ridiculous f'n question. Respect Travolta. Wow. He's a Scientologist. By definition he deserves no respect. -

Don't know if I "respect him", but I still think he did a nice job in a few films. I like Face/Off and Grease, so guess I "respect him" for those. He was also OK in The Punisher. Don't really remember much from the one time I watched Battlefield Earth, but seeing as I own it, I'll probably re-watch it soon. (It was a Christmas present from a friend - and he didn't even do it as a joke. I think he thought it looked like a good movie)
Also, him being a scientologist isn't really a big deal to me, allthough (after watching that one South Park episode :P) scientology seems really stupid. -

How was Face/Off a bad film? It's even got a 7.3 on here, which, all things considered isnt bad. I quite enjoyed it. I like a lot Travolta's roles (Grease, Pulp Fiction, Get Shorty, Swordfish, Hairspray, FACE/OFF), but he's nothing AMAZING. Still, the only reason I watched BE was to see Travolta's performance, no matter how bad it was. Plus u cant totally blame Travolta for how bad he was. No one else on the set was telling him was acting terribly. Im sure he thought he was doing fine. Blame Christian for that. Do I like Travolta? Sure, hes a nice guy, regardless of religion (everyone has the right to believe what they want, even if I dont agree with it.)

I loved John Travolta in 'Get Shorty', that film rocked.
I've never really been a fan of his films but I mildly enjoyed Pulp Fiction and the remake of Taking Pelham 123

Each actor has their goods and their bads, however most "bads" aren't as bad as this one. Travolta's a good actor but this was a real low for him. And I doubt he'd mad at himself for being apart of it, if he is, I give him more credit, slightly. Still, I think I'll see his new flick from paris with love this Weekend.

Let's see: he was mildly likable in Grease, and I enjoyed him in Get Shorty and Pulp Fiction. He wasn't bad in Swordfish, either. Then there's Face Off, Pelham, Battlefield Earth, and I'm sure a couple other movies in which I think he absolutely sucks in (although, he's so bad that it's funny in BE).
As an actor, I think he's rather terrible and pretty one-dimensional, given his track record, so I wouldn't say that his few high points make me respect him. Add in the fact that he's a Scientologist and there's no longer any possible way that I could.
