Unless one is making a movie involving Ebeneezer Scrooge, this sort of thing is going to look absurd. Throw in some old computers and Ghandi operating a video console looking into the future and you have to wonder at the intelligence of the writers.
Like the Curate's egg, this movie is good in parts, but it is particularly unfortunate that the flag waving partisanship on show makes the film unwatchable to any audience that isn't actually Pakistani. -

Yes - I kept waiting for the ghost of Christmas Present to turn up. On a more serious note - I thought it gave a pretty good representation of how divided and divisive everybody was - including Pakistanis themselves. There could be no winners in the way the British had to leave India/Pakistan. The people themselves were never going to remain calm no matter how much all the leaders wanted it to be so. Even now we can see how a few fanatics can take advantage of an unstable situation
