yeah i really didn't understand the change either. It didn't really explain what made her wake up. I'm under the impression that these kids, including rachel, didn't think that they would die on their 19th birthday, they would just "go to him". At least that's what Amos said in the first film when he was talking to Burt.

Rachel was loyal to Isaac in the first film. But then everything went awry and it caused some of the children to see the truth with Burt's message at the end but Rachel even tries to kill him at the end. But, then you have to put yourself in the shoes of Rachel after she comes to in the car, her leader is in a coma, she's pregnant, has no husband and has no one to turn to. She's frightened. Plus, she's not the only one who turned on Isaac, Doc Michaels does to and he has helped Rachel. He did some "constructive paperwork" to keep her out of jail. So, she's grown up and seen how wrong everything was. And also, Isaac may have tried to take Rachel under his wing at some point because he tells her "Why did you leave my side." Rachel didn't want Hannah to grow up in that atmosphere that she did because she saw what it did to the children. So she faked Hannah's death so Isaac could never get to the baby. Hannah tells Isaac. "You took my family, my husband." Isaac says "Amos accepted his fate." I hope that helps you.

I liked Rachel in this movie, I liked it better when she was faithful to Isaac.
