(Katherines freind with the black hair) She does not talk through the whole movie. Was she not able to talk? or was that just because she was shy?
Also, at the very end of the movie you can see the world trade centers in the background. it's hard to see it because of the smog (or fog) whatever. i didn't notice that before.

I think it's just an amusing aspect of the movie. If you listen closely, she actually does these little squeaks in reponse to some of the lines said.
"First you ask if you can be red, knowing that I'm always red."

I noticed that too and I think the role may have been played by a deaf actress although her character was not - as someone else mentioned it was partially to show that Katherine never shuts up.
