Why did they not get back together at the end? Because she was with that other guy? well FUCK that other guy, if he was a real man he would have stepped aside and let them be together. You missed the point of the ending of the story. Watch the last 20 minutes again. Chuck was going to be fine, too. Listen to everything he says in those 20 minutes, then look at that smile that comes across his face at the end of the crossroads scene and you'll realize what is going to happen next. And why.
