I don't think any topics are off limits in comedy. Joking about something taboo is often a way to break tension and stimulate conversation about something people don't feel they can discuss. I am a fan of dark comedy. I wasn't offended by the movie, but I don't remember laughing much. It was a powerful film, and gave me a lot to think about. It made me feel. Feel what? Not sure. Sadness for these lost characters? Disgust at some of their actions? It was more of a sadly poignant character study than a black comedy to me. I like a good laugh, but I like when movies connect somehow and actually make me Feel.
