Seeing this film again after 10 years, I realize James Woods has the standout performance in this daring and memorable film. He has a spectacular intellect and always turns it to wring something great out of every part he takes. He would have excelled in any career he chose, but it is the movie buff's good luck that he chose acting.

Yes, I agree that Woods is great. I believe part of it is his choice of roles: peculiar characters in strange movies, at times. Seen THE ONION FIELD? VIDEODROME? Even in the lighthearted buddy-cop spoof THE HARD WAY he excels, sending up his hyper onscreen self. Catch NIGHT MOVES, too. This one goes back to 1975 and involves Gene Hackman as a P.I. who questions Woods.
