    Um, no.
I thought it was odd when the radio reporter asked Moxon what Ivy League school he wanted. I'm not from Texas, but wouldn't a Texas high school player want to be a Longhorn or play for Texas A&M?
Ivy League schools are known for their academics. Sure you want a doctor or lawyer that went to Harvard or Yale. But their NCAA teams ain't exactly the greatest for getting drafted.

Keep in mind though that Mox doesn't care about playing football after high school. Even so though, Rice makes more sense from a Texas POV.
And Lance getting a full ride to Florida State? UT, Texas A&M, TCU, SMU or Texas Tech make more sense.
I'd wager money that the writer is not from Texas. That being said, he did do a good (albeit exaggerated) job of Texas high school football.

You missed the whole point of the movie.

Yes, everyone who is from Texas has the same exact hopes and dreams.

I get the point of the movie and the character. Moxon liked playing football, but he didn't see it as a career.
I'm not questioning him wanting to go to Brown.
I'm questioning why a reporter would ask what Ivy League school Mox wanted to go to. How did the reporter know that Mox was more into academics than football? It just seems more natural for him to ask Mox what SEC or C-USA school he was interested in.

              Rewatched that scene
"planning to play ball in the Ivy League"
Seems like the writer has no idea about college football.
Lance wanted to go pro, it would make sense to go to Florida State, since that's a high profile NCAA team that gets attention from NFL scouts.
I just find it hard to believe that the Broncos, Patriots, or Steelers are sending scouts to Yale instead of Florida or Alabama
Maybe I'm completely wrong. It's just my opinion. I'm assuming the reporter is thinking Moxon wants to go pro, and in my opinion a player that wants to go pro isn't going to an Ivy League school.

                .
The Ivies don't often produce players who go to the NFL, so obviously Lance would not have an interest in going there. I don't think we should assume the reporter thinks Mox wants to go pro. And how good was Mox really. He was terrific, but I didn't get the feeling has was on Lance's level, although I could be wrong.

I think it was known around the area that Mox wasn't looking at football as a career path and wanted to go to an Ivy League school (and think he mentions that he goes to Brown, which is in the Ivy League) and so I'd guess the reporter knowing that Mox wanted to go to an Ivy League school, phrased the question that way.
