    You know like Tyler Durden was a figment of his imagination. Marla was also. Nobody even knew Marla at all. We never see her actually communicating with any other characters. For all we know, Jack could have imagined every single scenario of Marla. Perhaps Marla was the guilty conscience of Jack. He was lying in those group meetings. Eventually his guilty conscience (Marla) would start bothering him.
