You may have seen it, if not, here it is again:
I keep seeing people post on how they are terrified, or scared? Well.. what are you scared of exactly? War? Because that's happening. School shootings? Because that's happening. Pipeline? That's been happening. Terrorism? Definitely alive and well. Going broke due to health insurance? Mm yes. Corruption throughout the system? Already there. Police officers being murdered? Yep, that's happening. Bullying? Check. Loss of jobs? We've got that on lock. A tanking economy. Yep. Being discriminated against for your religion, political views, sexual orientation, race? That's been going on. Rape, murder, violence, riots.. all going on and has been.
So tell me, what are you scared of that is not already happening basically everywhere? This isn't a Trump problem, this is a people problem. Y'all need to reevaluate your own selves..
Maybe America is a little too scared and a little too easily offended.
Quit being scared, crying around, offended by everything.. step up and do your part as an American, no, as a human being. Treat others with respect, help and encourage one another, raise your kids right, be a contributing member of society. Make sure your hands are clean, that's your job. Burning the American flag? Get out of here with that crap, how about you do your job to make it a better place.
But right now, all I see is hate. It's disturbing, and the ones with the most hate are being exactly what they claim to be against. -

I am afraid of a race war, a real one not just one of words. I don't have hate for anyone, not even the racists I've encountered on this board. I abhor racism and bigotry, but people have the right to feel whatever way they choose, even if I think their beliefs are ignorant. As long as they don't act upon it physically, they can hate people for race, religion, etc. to their hearts are content.
What has me concerned are the people on both sides inciting violence. This is not like the 50s & 60s where the prevailing opinion was civil disobedience to racism. These young people are angry and in some cases heavily armed. The anger and fear on both sides is leading us to a tipping point, and I fear where it will end. No good will come from any of this. -

Don't you find it ironic that America elected a black man to office - twice - and those 8 years have been some of the worst years - if not
the
worst years - for racial tension and race divide in this country since the 1960s? Why do you think that is? -

Well, Obama was openly divisive. It started with that Cambridge incident but every time something happened involving a black person, Obama took that person's side.
But once he was elected, EVERYTHING became racist. I thought it was bad before, but it steadily got worse under Obama, who did fuel that every chance he got. If he had a son, he would LOOK like Trayvon Martin??????
I did give Obama plenty of chances. I was actually happy to see a black man sworn in as president. No one rioted when he was elected. No one talked about marching on Inauguration Day to destroy that moment. Liberals are doing those to Trump, though.
Race relations today are the worst I have ever seen. And this is NOT the fault of conservatives. Sure, there are some racists in the GOP. That is true of ALL ideologies.
This is the fault of the hypersensitive, racebaiting left. That they will STILL say 'Hands up, don't shoot' is asinine and it speaks volumes about their deceitful ideology. -

Not really. I think there are a lot of people that expected him to be one of those "Good Black Folk" that does what he's told. It amazes me that people can't or won't acknowledge the prejudice, bias, and racism some minorities have faced their entire lives.
I'm not one of those people that believe in the concept of being "color blind." I think that's a very nave point of view. I just think people need to stop basing their feelings toward people on stereotypes. All White people are not the same. So, why do so many assume all Black people are?
I love my country, even with it's problems. I choose to live here because out of all the places I've lived and/or visited, this is home. There's no place like the U.S., and that's a fact. The freedoms and access to things we have here are like no other country, and I don't want to see that ruined by a stupid race war. -

Amen. The negative reaction to Donald Trump's presidential win is very strong among minorities. They feel betrayed by the country for electing him when he's been very divisive, and I wouldn't be surprised if someone took him out as a result, causing a race war. America is gonna be f!cked then. -

zabbree.. I agree completely with the idea of Trump's presidency inciting race wars and the bad part about that is that people like us who have no issue with other races or inter-racial dating etc, are going to be the people caught up in the middle of it. It will be our kids that hurt along the way while the Donald and his racist views watch from the WH.

There's a lot of validity in reminding us that there's nothing new about the things you've cited as scary. And your call to action is a noble and worthy cause all of us should take on.
However if 'hate' is all you see right now then perhaps your focus is too narrow. Civil disobedience is a privilege we all should treasure and seek to protect. It's evidence of a functioning democracy. Rioting is something entirely different.
In part, partisanship played a role in getting Trump elected. Usually that's the strongest and most rational reason why someone votes the way that they do when faced with two unappealing candidates. This time around however, that took a backseat to more disturbing influences.
Trump, ever the opportunist, exploited and manipulated these influences. And did so in a manner which many of us viewed as extremely unPresidential. The Genie he let out of the bottle is the thing I'm most 'scared' of.
'Maybe America is a little too scared and a little too easily offended'this might be the truest of all the things your post had to say. Yet I tend to believe that those who supported and elected Trump are those most in need of taking a long hard look in the mirror. -

I totally agree, rioting and destruction is so wrong. Protesting is just fine. The reason though that people feel the need to protest is so wrong. Trump riled up so much hate during the election. If he did it just to get elected, he chose the wrong path. The people who accepted what he said without question should be ashamed of themselves. This should not be a country based on hate but it is hard to prove that now after electing a man who has said and implied such hateful thoughts. Getting up there now and given a half assed I'm sorry isn't going to fix this and appointing people like Steve Bannon and Rudy Giulianni to important advisory posts are not helping either.
