Wanting a lie detector test even though you have proof of cheating.

If you have proof that your romantic partner is cheating on you, should you have them take a lie detector test in order to force them to confess?
I've seen on Maury that lots of women have solid proof that they are being cheated on, such as a man disappearing for three days on their wedding night; finding jewelry and underwear that does not belong to her; heard her husband having sex with another woman over the telephone. And yet, they still want them to take lie detector tests.
Honestly, it seems like these women are stupid, in denial, want to humiliate their men publicly, want to force them to confess, or just hope they pass the test.
Then there's the most likely reason: it's fake and they want free trips and to be on TV.
Now let's assume for the sake of argument that you have proof of your partner cheating on you, and when you confront them, they deny everything and give ridiculous excuses and explanations. Do you ask them to prove their innocence by taking a lie detector test, just so that you force them to confess? Or do you leave, no questions asked.
Of course, one should know that lie detector tests are not reliable at all. -

My all-time favorite was on an episode about eight years ago. A woman caught her husband in their bed with another woman and still wanted proof. When he failed the lie detector test, she wailed in shock and agony!
