Am I the only one shocked at the meta score and imdb ratings?

I can't believe the meta score is a lowly 60 and none of the Rush Hour films reach above 6.X/10.
Come on how the hell does Scream 4 score roughly the same as the first 2 rush hour films?
Who the hell is rating these movies on this site?
And it's not just Rush Hour, I've seen some great movies I can't remember off of the top of my head that get rubbish ratings like 4-5.X/10 and then some complete utter trash score up beyond 7/10.
I like voting so I can go back and look at what movies I may have forgot about but rated highly (I watch a lot of movies so it's hard to remember them all even if I did enjoy it or I do remember the movie but forget the name)
I used to use IMDB as a way to decide should I try a movie by the star ratings and user reviews but I've noticed in most cases the meta score will be rubbish, the IMDB ratings the same but the user review will say a completely different story.
So what the hell is going on here? Ok I understand the meta score ratings being low by actual proper critics but of so many people found the highly rated user review most helpful why does the IMDB rating stink so low?
Sometimes it can be the other way round like with Skyline for example, great user reviews but the deserved which I actually find to be generous low 4.X/10 and 14 meta score. I can't actually believe the most helpful user review gave that film a 10/10
A lot of times I will ignore all the above and read the plot and judge for myself which is the best way of course but what's going on above tells us most our "professional critics" are rubbish or overly critical.
I know a lot of movies have been poor over recent years due to fear of lack of originality but some of our older movies deserve better than what they receive.
The main films I do come here for all use of research are the obvious propaganda movies we have had of late, Non-Stop was utterly disgusting as was White House down and Olympus has fallen.
So what do you think about the ratings and meta scores Vs the user reviews, dare I add the troll filth ridden message boards? -

Well 6.8 isn't that bad, it's basically 7/10 which is well above medium, medium being 5. There are lots of ok films that get around 5, especially films from the 80's and 90's which were around from before IMDB started so didn't have the fans to come and vote. So this is a decent score.
But it's only a matter of personal taste anyway. Chris Tucker's character was pretty annoying and it is an immature humor so not everyone is going to appreciate that. Also I thought it could have had more action/fighting. There were only really 3 real fight scenes. My favorite fighting part was at the start when Jackie Chan was still in China. There was another good one in the restaurant. And then some at the end.
Also you mention originality but this was far from original. It was just a buddy cop movie which makes it one in a million. And Tucker's character was an almost carbon copy of the Beverly Hills Cop movies.
