Is Quince a Pedophile?

I felt that a couple of scenes this movie strongly implicated that Alison's husband(?) Quince might be a Pedophile. At one of the dinners he's having together with William's family, he suddenly burst out "I love little girls!!!" seemingly for no reason. I thought "W T F? What was that supposed to mean?" but in the end at the party, I'm given the explanation, when Quince breaks and says to Joe Black that Alison is wonderful for loving him even though she know about his darkest secret (He is sexually attracted to children).
I was suprised that nobody had started a thread about this yet, so therefore I started one myself. My very first one, I think. I could not be the only one who reacted to these scenes, could I? Or have I misunderstood them totally? -

It's been years since I've seen this movie, but I thought the same thing: This dude's a pedophile!!!
And check the look his wife gives him right after he says this. You can tell she doesn't know whether she should $hit or kill him on the spot! -

And just look at the age gap of Quincy and his wife. I bet he is dating litte miss Allison on her teens. Remember when Joe asked how he and Allison met and he replied something like a loser and a rich-man's kid. That just prove his affinity for younger women

Uh, it's possible, but I think you may be reading into things too much. The scene where he says, "I love little girls," does get a response from the rest of the dinner party and I think it was meant to be one of those classic comic momments where the person then follows up with " wait a minute that didn't sound right," but he didn't probably because Quince is that type of guy that just says whatever comes to mind. Like he says "Hey, buddy!" to Joe right after he's introduced for the first time. Plus, I think he's meant to come across as a little dumb at times. Writers have been known to have sub-backgrounds to characters that never get directly introduced in the film but are suggested by other elements that do appear, which may only be confirmed through their commentary or notes, so it's possible this could be one of those things, but I'd like to think it's not the case here. If I had to guess, I'd say a dark secret for Quince would be that he is a recovering alcoholic or gambling addict. Even though being sexually attracted to children doesn't necessarily make him a bad person, particularly if he doesn't act on it, I think Quince's character is meant to be truely lovable, so for something like that to be associated with him would spoil that. After all, Joe even says, "Oh yes, Quince. You're one of my favorites." Granted this is Death speaking, but through other context we know that even Death has a sense of good and bad. Also, after Quince says, "She knows the worst thing about me and it's OK," Joe asks, "What is it?" and Quince begins to explain that it's not just one thing, but he means it in a collective way. Anyway, that's my take on it.

It's been a long time since I've seen this, but I do recall him also saying something just prior to the little girl thing about, " I love. (whatever it was) [keychains]". So it did sorta fall into place and not just come out of the blue like some sort of perverted admission to being a pedophile.

Quince was not a pedophile, it was just a line of awkward humor. I love little girls, they're adorable. But I'm pretty gay so no I'm not a pedophile. See how that can work? lol.

even if it was a secret character background thing, they mayve wanted to include it to highlight the fact that while he is a pedo, he still loves his wife and suppresses that demon, while being a good person too. Thats assuming hes a pedo. Its by no means conclusive. But its easy to say that anyone watching the film back would notice it, and so they couldve changed it to disclude it from the story. The fact is its irrelevant. He has demons, which he himself alludes to, as everyone does. Its what type of person he is that is important which is what the film highlights.

I don't know if Quince was a pedophile.although his comment was somewhat disturbingjust look at the expression on his wife's face. I think being sexually attracted to children is pure evil and vile.and if you are.you are definitely a BAD PERSON! Now.you might be the kindest, and most generous, courteous, nice individual anyone could ever want to meetbut if a person harbors that kind of attraction toward children.SOMETHING IS EXTREMELY WRONG AND BAD! I also think that kind of unnatural desire is fueled and propagated by a demonic spirit!!
A child is a pure, simple soul who has a certain faith, and is not strong enough to resist attack, whether it be physical, emotional or mental. Your worse perpetrator, whether deranged or not.recognizes the sweet innocence of children, and knows within their heart of hearts that innocence should be respected! It is an evil spirit within them that drives their desire to indulge sexually with a child or even just thinking about it! To betray a child's faith, or damage his morals and his physical body by evil example; teaching that child to sin, the sneers and disdain at the loss of their innocence, the violation of their innocence through sexual actsand then justifying those gross offences inacted upon them, is a deadly sin denounced by Jesus Christ in..Matthew 18:6:
"But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he be drowned in the depth of the sea."
Jesus is saying..It is better for everyone concerned, or literally. profitable; that you be put to death FIRST, rather than perpetrate such a heinous crime against innocent children! By this extreme act of suicidal death.you avoid committing this despicable sin..and save the soul of the innocent victim.
Children who endure and manage to survive black, evil sexual sins levied against them by others..ARE NEVER THE SAME! There is a part of them (their soul) that is damaged, if not completely destroyedFOREVER!

Let's be clear. Being attracted to children isn't inherently evil. It's something that's burned into the brain. Acting on that attraction is evil.
One of the necessary steps to recovery from this type of sexual addiction is learning to acknowledge those impulses. Without acknowledging them the person will never get control over them. So I will ask you to stop telling my patients that their thoughts are evil. Their thoughts and attractions are their own private business. -

You're misunderstanding it completely. He's just a silly guy. That's quite obvious in the movie. When he says that his wife knows the worst about him and still loves him, he's referring to the fact that they love each other so much, regardless of their faults. Allison knows all the bad parts of him and still loves him and that's why betraying her father hurts him so much.
