According to Lo that Clare was some kind of porno producer that wanted her to be in his porn movies. I didn't know that they have XXX movies in the 40s. So Lo went to his mansion to film porn movies? Can someone please explain??

Yes, they had porn films in the 40's and even before the forties- in fact, porn on film as been around as long as film as been around. They were called stag films, or art films but they were porn and many were just as explicit as today's porn films. Before film you could get porn on photographs known as French post cards and before that there was always pornographic drawings,and paintings. The Roman ruins of Pompeii from 2,000 years ago are famous for the pornographic images and murals.
Lo didn't go to Quilty's mansion with the intent to film porn. If you remember she was stage struck after getting the lead in the school play. Quilty had told her she was a great actress and had promised to make her a film star. Lo thought he was referring to the Hollywood film industry. It was only when she was at the mansion that she discovered it was Quilty's porn films she was to star in. When she refused to engage in them Quilty threw her out on the street. Lo was just one of many Quilty had used the same ruse upon.
