I don't know why more people don't know about this movie. It touched me so deeply. It's nice to see that it has a lot of fans here.
SPOILERS - If you didn't see the movie yet, don't read any further. But by all means, go see the movie!
    SPOILERS
I saw it again today, and even though I vowed not to, I sobbed like a baby at the end. Not because of the death, but because of the ending. It was as though Percy's death was not in vain. She touched the people of the town and taught them something important. In a way, they all honored percy by selecting a girl like her to win the restaurant. Clare and her son would now have the chance that Percy and her child didn't have.

      SPOILERS, TOO!
The thing that always gets to me is when Eli and Hannah 'reconcile' near the end.
But more than that, the second time I saw it, I couldn't help but cry like a kid when Percy sang "There Is A Balm In Gilead" while Johnny B. crept up behind her. It moved me the first time, but once I knew her story, and Johnny B.'s (and the real Johnny B.'s), it broke my heart.

I totally agree about the feel and the beauty of the movie. I couldn't believe that somehow for 12 yrs I had missed this. I too was moved when she was singing and 'JohnnyB' walked up behind her. I will watch it again, and probably cry like a baby too.
I have recommended this movie to all my friends. Tis a beautiful thing.
