avalanche of other big budget Dragon-movies.
When I first saw it in 1996, I said to myself:
''Man! This dragon looks great! I can't wait for another film such as this.''
But, unfortunately, those films never came
Ok, there were Dungeons and Dragons & Eragon (bad), How to train Your Dragon & Shrek (both are animated films), and Reign of Fire (where dragons looked more like Wyverns, and were completely savage).
Of course, there are more of them, but I listed only the ones that had a bigger budget.
Now, I'm not saying that Dragonheart was a great film (I gave it 6), but it revolutionised the way dragons can be presented on film.
I am shocked that there wasn't any film that wanted to exploit that.

I have to agree. It isn't a great film but it is enjoyable filled with a very talented cast. I have to give credit to Hollywood for not milking the hell out of this genre. You have to remember back then studios weren't utterly bankrupt of ideas nor was the cost of CGI conducive to cheap knockoffs. This is the only enjoyable live action dragon movie yet. Compared to what came after this had plenty of opportunity to disappoint but it never did.
