β 5 years ago(January 06, 2021 04:24 AM)Jesus Christ itβs close. Looks like both races are going to come down to a few outstanding counties. Starting to look disturbingly similar to Trump vs Biden in AZ, NV.

β 5 years ago(January 06, 2021 06:18 AM)Thatβs why we need to start ignoring them and just enjoy the Misery of Mitch McConnell when Kamala Harris becomes the new owner of the senate.
She will likely be the tie breaking vote on any and every possible legislation if ossoff can beat Purdue and Manchin doesnβt break ranks to caucus with the GOP.

β 5 years ago(January 06, 2021 06:09 AM)Iβm hearing from multiple sources that a few reputable statisticians like David Wasserman have called BOTH races for the Democrats as of 12:30AM.
Warnock clearly is going to win but the Ossoff/purdue race is too damn close.

They're both insanely close. Warnock definitely has a more commanding lead.
My projection of the next few hours:
Republicans: "Stop the count!"
Also Republicans: "Don't stop the count!"
Also also Republicans: "RECOUNT"
Proudly offering too-close encounters since 1977. -

I'll just say it's the difference between a Democratic government which can get something done and stalemate. If the Georgians elect the two Republicans and give them the Senate, it's going to be two years of nothing. The silver lining is maybe Biden can't send troops to Syria.

β 5 years ago(January 06, 2021 06:12 AM)Youβve fallen for the GOP con of assuming Biden has any interest in going to war. Heβs trying to get energy legislation passed and rebuild infrastructure. We have no rhyme or reason to be invading Syria in a middle of a pandemic lmfao.

Trust me. Democrats have always been the war party. Do you know that the Neo-Con movement started among liberal Democratic academics in the 1970's? The Democrats were the ones who invaded other countries to spread "democracy" - with Korea, Vietnam, Somalia, Haiti et al.
The U.S. wants to make Syria safe for its ally Israel. Syria is Israel's neighbor. We'll be in Syria before the end of 2021. Wanna bet?

β 5 years ago(January 06, 2021 06:26 AM)Youβre saying the past determines the future. Biden has not shown any indication he wants to be a hawkish president. Again, youβre being fooled by GOP propaganda.
You donβt make predictions based on what ifβs and old trends. His main platform is and always has been energy legislation and infrastructure rebuild. The Democrats youβre referring to were not presidents during a PANDEMIC.

Don't be naive Erica. There is a whole political establishment involved here, not just Biden.
And I'm fooled by no one. Most Democratic voters don't realize the history of their own party. The Democrats have never shied away from war.
And "GOP propaganda" tries to make Democrats look like foolish pacifists. I've never heard Republicans say Biden will invade Syria.
That came from my own ingenious gift of prophecy. So I've never heard anyone else come out and say it. But we will have troops in Syria before Xmas 2021.

β 5 years ago(January 06, 2021 06:41 AM)Both parties have had plenty of hawkish regimes. Why are you pretending war mongering is a partisan behavior? Itβs just an American behavior, period.

But if you look back at the 20th century almost every war was started by Democrats. It's something which must be noted. It can't be just a coincidence.
And please, I rate George W Bush and his Republican Neo-Con Presidency as being responsible for the murder of thousands of young Americans in pointless wars. But as I said, "coincidentally", the Neo-Con movement began among Democrats.
It's the old liberal idea that Americans should spread liberty to the world.

korea and vietnam were treaty obligations. neither of those governments were "democratic" in the least. we were engaged to keep the commumists OUT or at least to minimize their impact if already IN. and if you dont believe that both the soviets and the red chinese posed both a real and a capable existential threat then you're just some misguided commie stooge who should've paid closer attention in HS history class.
somalia was a failed african nig state. Papa bush didnt give a **** UNTIL footage of starving kids and threats to UN aid workers woke up the world and the US: THAT was the impetus which drove him to send in the soamalia force. Haiti was devasted by earthquakes, famine, the usual "let-the-former-colonized-now-'free'-state" maladies and because these idiots were even less competant than the somalis, we had to act or else the racism card was gonna be a royal flush played against america's "image." Obama sent in some limp-dick bombing campaign because the Syrian camel ****er was bombing his own civilian people and using chem weapons against them. again, it was this NOT a chance to install "democracy" in syria which brought us in.
we have little or no influence in any of these countries and none of them are really democratic save for koreaβbut THEE version of democracy not oursβ so i fail to see anything in your argument/claim of truth
every country since the start of "countries" has schemed, manipulated, invaded, occupied, etc. only phony idealists actually think there's some Edenic version of both history and international relations which the US ought to use as a gauge to measure how far we'ved strayed from the proper way of being a world power.
Assad is an illigetimate thug but he provides the russianS with THEIR ONLY WARM WATER(YEAR ROUND ICE FREE,THAT IS) PORT WHICH MAKES SYRIA AN IMPORTANT PIECE OF REAL ESTATE. I dont give one dick jerk about these people but i do care about keeping the russians the hell out of the Med and the shipping access to the red sea. so let's remove this ****. if israel benefits then whatever. this is American foreign policy to benefit us and our NATO allies, to which israel is not a signatory. -

With Korea and Vietnam, the idea of spreading "democracy" was by propping up dictators to stop Communism. Yes it was an anti-Communist canard. But it was in keeping with the liberal American ideal of spreading democracy.
And sure, the real threat to the U.S. has always been Russia and China. But Vietnam did nothing to strengthen American national security. We sacrificed thousands of young Americans and we lost anyway.
Yet, we are now in Hanoi trying to negotiate trade deals with the Vietnamese. The whole war was a farce. Vietnam went Communist and President Trump goes there and stays in a luxury hotel. We gained nothing after years of bloodshed. How was the "existential threat" of the Soviet Union or China address by that pointless war?
