Amy referring to Marie's lasagna, that sometimes her "noodles" were undercooked. (Brave Amy). Surely she should have said, "Pasta". Noodles are used in Asian dishes. Different ingredients.

In Europe there is a word that refers to all pasta -"makaron " and it pulls all of it in ( noodles , ziti, rigotony, bow tie , spaghetti , etc..) , regardless shape and size . Kinda like word " meat" just covers all meat there is , so Amy just used name for pasta that she is familiar to her . Noodles are pasta , check ingredients

Noodles are basically made of wheat, rice, mung bean, buckwheat, potato and canna starch and is boiled.
Pasta: Durham wheat, semolina and eggs.
But I can see that the word "noodle" comes from the German word, "nudel" so it could be noted as a universal word for pasta as you say just as we say "meat".
With our large Italian and Asian influence here we do differentiate between the two. So I apologise that I got it wrong.
