That Verbal just stabbed him?
Since it's not entirely clear if that scene really happened or if it's just Kujan's perspective, I think he was just gonna say that someone stabbed him out of nowhere or that he was walking and suddenly felt a sharp pain in his back.

He saw verbal without the limp. He hadn't quite g=figured out verbal was Keyser when Keyser stabbed him
