Assuming Soze is who we think at the end, didn't he go through a lot of trouble for something that boils down to being simple? Especially given what we're told about this guy. The ultimate boogeyman, his reach is infinite, seemingly knows all. You're telling me that guy would rather (insert whole plot of movie) than outsource the job to his top BAMF hitmen?

He seems like the ultimate boogeyman, but how much of that is just myth? His reach isn't that infinite, as he was betrayed by one of his closest henchman. That's why he felt he had to go and pull the trigger himself. He couldn't trust anyone else to do it. What if these hitmen went alone and found out that the rat knew every intimate detail about Soze? They could decide not to kill Marquez and use him against Soze themselves.

All of the machinations during the entire film often with Soze's life at risk netted him what? At the end, a full frontal attack on the ship that would only have succeeded in a movie. Also, his ID was discovered by Chaz along with his fingerprints and DNA.

If he hadn't taken that risk every criminal would know who he was and have the info to destroy his empire. As was said in the movie, he's not going to show his face anymore anyway.

Soze doesn't have to show his face. His cover was blown. Chaz and many others saw his face, the law has his fingerprints and probably his DNA.

And? He's not going to put himself in a position again in which he shows his face, fingerprints or DNA to the police. They will have nothing to compare it to. No criminal is going to rat on him because of his reputation and obviously, as this movie shows, Soze is able to influence even those who are higher up. And let's not forget that Keaton was also able to walk around in public for years even though he faked his death. They had no case against him because all the witnesses were dead. I doubt Soze is going to let the Hungarian in the hospital live.

Well, some hold to the theory that "Verbal" was just a trusted hitman for Soze, sent to take care of the task for him.

I think he wanted to kill Arturo personally. I am in the camp that believes Kint was describing the events mostly accurately.

No, Kint was definitely Sozer. All the evidence points to this.
