      Well, they said that in the beginning of the movie that $1000 was in there price range for travel (discussion with John JHS) and they paid $50.00 for the car at Crazy Elijah's. They would obviously need money for food and hotels, but would $500 be enough (for 1995 gas prices) to get across the country?
      Are Cadillacs major gas guzzlers?
