Without a doubt.
When I think of this film, three things come to mind:- Neil Young's music
- The bizarro performance of Gary Farmer
- Johnny Depp appearing more dead than alive

Neil Young improvised the music while watching and re-watching the film and playing along with it. So, the rhythm of the soundtrack highlights the rhythm of the film.
I'm sorry the Coen brothers don't direct the porn I watch. They're hard to get ahold of, okay? -

That makes a lot of sense. Just watched the movie for the first time, caught my eye with the cast.
The music definitely went with the film, but I thought it got too loud at parts. It did enjoyably set the mood.Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker.

I came on this board to say the same thing! The music really ruined my enjoyment of a very unique, visually beautiful, and extremely well-acted movie. As I was watching it, I sat in dread of the next dissonant, ear-splitting chord that was about to assault my ear. And I normally like Neil Young.
