When is this film going to be released in the USA. i am a big fan of the CRYING FREEMAN comics and i have been wating for about a year for this to come out on video or at least get a run at the art houses and the movie was made in 1995, so it has been about 8 years sicen it was made and why it has not been released yet is beyond me. i also hope who ever releases this film releases it Uncut. why is it that there is not a US distributor that wil gave this movie a nice and far release. don't they known that they got a money monster on there hands. wath, it not violent enough for you all, no big stars in it? when wil ths film get released or will it ever.

Well, in the US, "Crying Freeman" is really not that well known. I expected it to hit the arthouses when "Brotherhood Of The Wolf" proved that it was possible to get people into mall theatres, to watch a subtitled french film. Alas, it hasn't happened yet. If you still want this, I'd recommend Amazon.com as a source for the japanese, and French DVD editions. though the french lacks subtitles for some important scenes. (grrrr)
            Good luck.

              Judexdot1,
Have you seen the both the Japanese and the French versions? Are they different? I bought a copy of the VHS tape released while I was in Korea. I'm wondering if I'm missing anything. The Japanese and Korean video tape versions that I've seen were the same. - They also lacked titles for the Chinese portions! ( Not that it interfered with understanding the plot in any way.)
This is one of those movies that I personally love and my friends all say " It's okay. " They just don't get it. The film has some overacting, especially on the part of the Freeman's chief henchman and I don't understand the need for the length of the "Mark chained in bondage" scenes. But I love the pacing and slow motion action scenes. The presence of Mako and Karyo also serve to elevate the film as does the choice of unusual sets in Vancouver, San Franciso and Japan. This film is about mood and atmosphere and has lots of both!
Did this film do well in Europe, I wonder?
              Matt

Some DVD releases are being sold in ebay. I am also waiting for the US release, I could not get it in my country neither
Is it good? As good as Brotherhood of the wolf? I loved that one
                Cheers,
                Fernanda

Has this movie been released in the U.S. yet? I mean is there a chance that they carry it at a Blockbuster? I never even knew that they made a movie about Crying Freeman until I stumbled upon it on the internet.

I'm surprised it's still not out. I went to this video store that I just became a member at and they have imported DVDs for rent. Crying Freeman is one of those and I just rented it. It's the Hong Kong release of the film and the print is horrid. There's like a color blur when ever someone walks around the color seems delayed.

Kind of frustrating that this still isn't "officially" available in the US. Especially since Christophe Gans has gotten some clout after
                        Brotherhood of the Wolf
                        and
                        Silent Hill
. Luckily, I have found the Japanese Laserdisc. Of course the Japanese and Cantonese dialogue isn't subtitled in English, but I'm still happy to have it.
