I finally got to see this film today after 21 years. I liked the look of it back in 1994 but just never got around to seeing it.
Well, I liked it! There's a lot to really enjoy in the film. Great cast, a great premise and some really good scenes between the players.
Unfortunately the whole thing felt like a TV movie. The special effects were terrible, the score was awful and felt like they were lifted from an episode of Columbo (a major surprise considering it was Morricone) and the whole thing looked like it was made in 1984 rather than 1994.
The lack of action was fine, I liked the pace but it did seem to take ages to tell certain parts of the story and any action that did appear was dreadfully shot.
Some great scenes though. Will running then bouncing up the stairs after biting Stewart in the wolf like manner actually make the hairs stand up on my neck and there was some great moments where Will was being super confident in the office and it's a shame that side wasn't explored more.
Top marks though go to James Spader, especially in the police station scene. His acting reminded me of The Company OF Wolves and it was so sinister and animal like I had the fear watching him tilt his head in the hungry way as if he was going to eat Laura.
It's also great seeing two actors who played Batman Villains in the same film, but I think with a different director at the helm and some polish with the pacing and special effects here and there it could have been absolutely stunning.
Worth a watch for the cast moments!
