Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Mixed Nuts

I might be one of the few who actually LOVES this film, and has been frustrated that it's only been available in full screen on dvd. Well, today at Walmart, I found a copy that said WIDE SCREEN on side A and Full screen on side B. I grabbed it immediately. It's worth upgrading for WIDE SCREEN.
Imagine my shock to get home and discover that it only has the FULL SCREEN inside the case. This is a clear case of FALSE ADVERTISING.
I am SO upset, and Walmart BETTER take this one back and give me back my money. grrrrr.

I do wonder if this one ever really was released in Widescreen. I thought this was a decent moviehaven't seen it in many years, may have to watch my copy on VHS (I refuse to buy a fullscreen DVD of it).

Actually being someone who bought it the first day it was available on DVD in 2001, I can confirm that it was initially released with both Widescreen and Full Screen Versions.
Around 2004, in a cost cutting measure, Sony took some of their DVDs that had both Widescreen and Full Screen versions and removed one or the other. Mixed Nuts I believe was part of that first batch.
Copies that were originally part of the first pressing can still be found, but a good place to go and look is eBay. Make sure you ask the seller which version they have every time. I did that with 1992's Hero (another film affected by this cost-cutting measure) and it paid off in spades.

I have this movie and it is in 1.85:1 widescreen. It's not on DVD though.

Sony knowingly put out DVDs that said they had WS/FS on the case, but didn't?
              That sickens me!
