It takes me out of the movie. We are supposed to believe the mask is a wondrous artifact that gives the wearer supernatural powers, and it does do that, but nobody really cares. When he bounces around a room or becomes frozen solid in mid-air or pulls a bazooka from his pocket nobody is shocked or amazed instead they are annoyed like he's just being a knucklehead. It makes it seem like he isn't doing anything so special.

It’s strange. I still think this movie sucks though. The best parts are with masked Dorian.

Yeah, it's not a good movie. I don't know why it made so much money. Must have been Jim Carrey mania.

He got a whole police force to dance to the Cuban Pete song. I think the artefact can control people surrounding the wearer as much as it can release suppressed feelings from the one wearing it.
If he imagines that's how people would react in the cartoon he lives in, that's how they react. It's magical!

Tina becomes a literal tornado during the dance. And she doesn't even bring it up ever again. But she seems like she enjoyed the experience hearing that scream of hers.
