He's a licensed ophthalmologist. The moron would be Fauci, who for a year was saying there is no way covid could have been man made, then completely changed his tune to say it was a possibility. The smart people saw that from the beginning.

Only an idiot could watch that and think Paul was lying.
He says two things. The first is that the lab in Wuhan was used for gain of function research. The second is he tells Fauci nobody is claiming that the research directly led to COVID 19.
So, the only area of dispute is whether the lab was used for gain of function research. The general concensus amongst the scientific community appears to be that Paul is not wrong. Either he's correct and Fauci is lying, or Fauci is technically correct but using such a narrow definition of gain of function as to render it meaningless. Fortunately for Fauci, his friends in China are experts at avoiding scrutiny, so we'll never get the smoking gun we're looking for.
