Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Mrs. Doubtfire

or even willpower of his own until after he caught Daniel in the bathroom. See, before that, he was always "like, yeah, okay, maybe, me too" and you can barely hear him when he talked, it was like older sister Lydia was calling the shots for him and only him and he was tagging along. Remember the first night with Mrs. Doubtfire, after Lydia sassed her for the first time, he just sat there while Natalie worried about the upcoming punishment? Then when they get punished, Lydia shuts off the vacuum to sass Mrs. Doubtfire all over again and it's Natalie who tells her "SHUT UP LYDIE!!!" then and only then, he [Chris] says, "Yeah, you got us into this mess!" And when Lydia mentions she misses dad, he follows suit with the classic "Me too."
Okay, the only time that we could actually hear him, was that bathroom scene when he's telling Lydia that they need to dial 911 and get Mrs. Doubtfire arressted, and that was the only idea he came up with on his own, and the only idea he ever had period-in the whole movie.
One could say, maybe he [the actor Matthew Lawrence] was stoned on marijuana the whole time, or he just doesn't have a loud voice, very meek soft spoken, but I don't know. The only time we really see him try and make a decision on his own about right and wrong is that scene outside the bathroom.

When you mention about when Lydia was protesting on them cleaning the house after they refused right way to get to homework after Mrs Doubtfire put them to work doing manuel labor. While she sat back add read the newspaper and and drink, while i would think that Natalie wouldn't known better, but Chris being older, and instead of saying
"yeah you got us into this" he should have kept his mouth shut, but he and Natalie got themselves into the spat that was going in between Lydia and Mrs. Doutbfire.
