Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Reservoir Dogs

Why else would this career criminal put his life on the line against 2 men that he's known for years (Joe and Eddie) for a guy (Orange) that he knew for what? A week? Maybe 2?
Mr White talks early about how he knows there's a rat in the group , Joe obviously knows Orange is the culprit since he's the only one he wasnt 100 percent sure on , and White still doesnt believe it? At that point Brown and Blue were dead , Eddie vouched for Blonde, and Pink knew Joe since he was a kid. There was no one else left.
Also , White was very compassionate toward Orange after he got shot. Some would say it was more of a fatherly type caring for him. I see it a different way.

No way. It was just fatherly love for "the kid" as White himself puts it.

Nah, I don't see any gay vibe with those two. The only possible gay undertone at all would be with Mr. Orange. The way he embraces his UC handler and the way this same guy dresses like a member of the Village People, their rapport with one another, even the fake (I'm guessing) wedding ring and the music playing in his apartment. It's all conjecture and a bit of a stretch but hey, it is fun to speculate.

I don't think Mr. White was actually gay, but Reservoir Dogs was inspired by yakuza films, which often include male relationships with a homoerotic subtext. It seems Tarantino was at least aware of it, he did say "gay subtext always makes every movie better".

One - White had been through a shootout alongside Orange, seen him gun down a civilian and then witnessed him struggle with a horrible gut wound at great length. Two - even if the logic in the end strongly suggested that Orange had to be the rat, by that time White was in denial, imagining that he 'knew' Orange and refusing to entertain the thought that he'd wasted all this empathy on a cop (admittedly, it is somewhat surprising to see a career criminal show such compassion, but then again not all crooks are total psychos like Blonde).

Nah. More of a father son type relationship. By that rationale, you could argue that Eddie and Blonde are gay. Two men wrestling on the floor? Eddie did say that Blonde tried to f him??

If anything, I thought Eddie-Blonde. White-Orange is more a father-son relationship. Eddie is actually quite a cold and ruthless character despite the "Nice Guy" sobriquet
but he is genuinely upset to find Blonde dead
, despite him being a certifiable psycho, and Eddie's judgment at the end is at least as questionable as White's.
