          Well duh - it's a comedy!
          That's like saying Trading Places, Brewsters Millions, Trains Planes and Automobiles, Arthur, Tootsie, Ruthless People, Twins and thousands of other great comedies are also contrived.
          They have to have a silly plot premise, to a) make people curious enough to go and see the movie in the first place, and b) to stay engaged once they're viewing it.
