Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth

    allenja7 — 10 years ago(August 11, 2015 05:31 AM)

I just rewatched this film and it seems like they decided to move from away from what made the first two films good and instead, focus on a more 80's/90's type horror villain, something along the lines of Freddy Kruger. The concept was good, where the Demon from the box is able to roam around in the real world, however the execution was done poorly. It seems like they wanted to get Pinhead quickly and have a bunch of Cenobites spouting one-liners, which sort of took the audience out of the film. This film feels out of place in the series, if anything it feels like an 80's Slasher Film, which is very uncharacteristic for a Hellraiser series.

I kind of agree with you. Although I do like the film it seemed quite a lot different from the first two. It came across as though they were trying to make it more gimmicky so it would seem more appealing to teenagers which isn't a good or bad thing; just different.

As much as I do enjoy Hellraiser III their's no denying that it was the first misstep in the franchise after the first two films held high in my respect Part 3 came along and tried to be less romantic and more comedic.I also enjoy Part 4:Bloodline but that has separate issues than Part 3 but issues none the less.Inferno picked the franchise up after it's two fun but ultimately failure films.Part 6 wasn't a bad movie but it certainly is more dull version of Inferno with one neat thing.Part 7 was unique as hell and clever.Part 8 & 9 are complete disasters.

Hellraiser III jumped the Borg Cube with some of the most ridiculous looking Cenobites ever to grace the screen.

I am not a fan. I just happen to enjoy movies. Fans are embarrassing.

yup they turned it into a "slasher" @ the end
                which IS NOT hellraiser

There's definitely a huge drop in quality here after the greatness of the first two films but in my opinion the series didn't really go to hell (pardon the pun) until after Bloodlines.
