Hmm - yes, that's what I was thinking
I think the main improvement in a BI remake would be to introduce a homoerotic element to the story, could their be a spark between Nick and Gus, perhaps ?
As for Cher, yes - not the most obvious casting choice - but I think she could play the part very well ('you're the shooter?!'). And her ever changing hair could add to the mystery behind who the real killer is.
I really think however that Rachel McAdams would make an amazing Catherine. She practically played the part in Love Crime.

Mmmm there is already a very similar series to BI on Hulu named Chance with a great cast.
But hey lets go with the flow and play

And that would put a brand new spin on his upset and Gus' murder at the end
