I've looked in trivia and didn't find the answer to this question:
Did they really blow up that beautiful lake house, or was that computer-generated imagery? Has anyone read anything about that?
Thanks!

I don't know the answer to this but my best guess would be that they didn't blow up the house. More likely they constructed a shell of more or less identical external appearance and blew that up instead.

I worked on the movie & as the previous poster said, they did in fact not blow up the house it was a faux paux or replica if you will of the actual establishment soujourned by the individuals in the film. Had the actual "house" been subjected to combustion, not only would it have been deemed unnecessary monetarily speaking, but hazardous to not only the actors & others in the community, but also crossing lines over time & space with environmental legalities that our lawyers felt should possibly be avoided if possible.

Quote: {Dr. Marvin's lake house was also used as Paul Krendler's house in Hannibalthe house where the dinner party scene took place.} Wow, I never noticed that before, but you're absolutely right! Doesn't surprise me though, it's an awesome location. Whoever owns it is lucky to have it!

yep, it's still there. the man who owned the house was a partner in the law firm my mom worked in, and he definitely wouldn't let them blow it up. haha. you can see a bunch of members of the law firm at the birthday party scene
