Maybe Bastian was aware he was in a movie and had to stretch out a chain of events over the span of 90 minutes.

Yea instead of asking for like 50 steps to get up the wall he should of wished to get inside.

Ha ha me and my sister thought at least make one wish to cover all the steps.

Yeah I'v always thought he should have wished for all the steps at once.
Also when he stupidy wished up the rogue dragon, why didnt he wish it out of existance again??? Or wish the giants away when they first attacked. He didnt know about the memory machine then! He had no reason to not wish.

Yeah that makes sense to us but he was unaware that his memories were being removed so it didnt really matter how the wishes were made.

Is it possible that those who made the movie. Wished they had gone in another direction. Instead of one that required a cup of coffee and the rewind button on the remote. To try and try to enjoy this movie?

I remember thinking the same thing when I saw it in theaters at the age of 10. Who would wish for one step at a time?

It is a bit silly but he was drunk on the power the wishes gave him and he didn't realize it was dangerous yet. As for the first one the Empress basically told him the solution wasn't that simple. She isn't affected by AUYRN like Fantasians are.

I never understood the steps. He wished for another way in and all these steps appeared but they ended before they got him in. It would imply the Xayide was able to use magic against him or something.
The movie was just altogether disappointing. I was so excited when I was a kid and saw a preview on tv for a sequel to my all time favorite movie. And then the let down.

Or wished for a real weapon instead of a can of either spray paint or a can of Pledge to use against the Giants?

It is a tad more fun to use something more illogical against a villain, plus he's a kid and he loves spraypaint so why not.
