In the dinner in prison scene, a man says something like, “They baseball batted them two SOBs, so you couldn’t recognize them.” Then, another man says, “Good, they deserved it.” Possible foreshadowing to what happened to Joe Pesci and his character’s brother in Casino?

The criminals in those movies were psychopaths. They didn't feel sorry for nobody that got whacked.
Which is why when Tommy shot Spider in the foot and later killed Spider, Tommy didn't care.
