      yep i agree now if only it had some special features like class of 1984 had maybe class of 1999 II the substitute will get a dvd release did you see that one not quite as good as this one but alright

            and how is the brightness/contrast? the last third part of the movie was really dark in the uk-dvd. may you can check the scene with the drill.

              this dvd seemed cut to mei seem to recall the vhs version having more blood in the head drilling scene, and stacy keach's death seemed abreviated..maybe im crazy?

                  I agree though the sound is off a parts of the film overall the movie looks great. Reminds me of how beautifully campy the film was. 🙂

                      I know this post is from ages ago, but I'm curious which copy of 1999 you haveI have it on VHS and DVD, but my DVD sucks and is actually missing parts of the image I can see on the VHS copy! It's like they took the 4:3 VHS transfer and blew it up to 'widescreen'.
                      One example that sticks out is right before the two gangs go inside to waste some teachersAs Hector throws his cigarette away you could see the embers flying around when it hit the ground. I can see this on the VHS but not the DVD.
                      I think this is the version I have (same cover at least)

                          Possible, but I don't think so because the framing is all offcan't even see all the robot's awesome displays from their POV shots.
