I realize that "Speed Zone" is a completely awful movie but the weird thing about it is, if this came out on DVD, I would be one of the first people to buy it. That's why I said "call me nuts". I mean, this is barely funny and it ranks up there as an unmitigated stinker. But for some reason "Speed Zone" makes me smile any time I have watched it. I guess I enjoy its light-heartedness. Also, I like John Candy as usual. It's the kind of movie I couldn't brag about to other people but I must admit I like it. Any one else feel the same way? I figured fans of this movie would be on these boards. Anyway, this is the kind of movie I would watch alone and order a pizza to go with it, along with some Pepsi. Hey, how can you despise a movie with Jamie Farr, Shari Belafonti, Eugene Levy, John Candy, Donna Dixon, the Smothers Brothers, Brooke Shields, Bo Duke and Melody Anderson ( that's Dale Arden from the cult classic Flash Gordon)! You can't! What is there not to like with an ensemble cast like that!

I dunno why it gets such a bad reputation. It's not that bad of a film, it's full of stars, it brought back together a few cast members of "SUTV" as well. It's just a movie I think people try to compare too much to the originals, but if you watch it as its own movie, there is far worse movies out there.
The "would you like my penis" scene is hilarious to anyone, and sure, the jumping Lamborghini thing is pretty lame, but so was some scenes in the original Cannonball movies like Jaws telling Jackie Chan to "make us invisible" and the car hovers 50 feet in the air? Or Beauties god awful stupid joke about balling your brains under a tree and playing it out with music like the punchline was meant to be in some way funny?
