This is the first movie to really double down on turning Freddy into a circus clown. He's not even funny though, he's just cringe. The next movie is even worse in this regard.

Unwatchable, total waste of time.
Lacking ideas, it recycles already seen scenes over and over again to the point we are de-sensitized to strange world of Freddie's gore nightmare and it is annoying now, far from being horror or thriller or interesting enough to pay attention to.
The same thing that happened to the Hostel. -

I really love the opening tho with the music and asylum scene. This was high quality looking film compared to the shot on video quality look of part 4.
