Why didn't his hair grow back?

I know (and have experienced) that hair loss occurs sometimes when there is severe emotional trauma.
But once the trauma is over, the hair grows back within a year! Why was Ron bald afterwards, even though he was still a young man?

He wasn't completely bald no, but it was all receded on top. He seemed to lose it when in the terrible trauma in the war, but it never grew back like before.

OR
it just started receding naturallyas it does to millions of men around the world every year. Look how young Nicholas Cage was when his hair started receding - before he got hair plugs. He didn't go through any trauma. -

I agree, and do see what you're saying.
It just seemed, in the film, that Ron's hair began to fall out in hanks right after he was severely wounded.
