According to one of the writers. There will be no season finale type episode, no grand goodbye, no " norm turning off the lights "…. it will just be a normal episode at the end of whatever season is the last ever season.

I dont really care, but I will say that would be a terrible way to end a show that has been running for 40 years.
I think this is misdirect, a movie is coming out soon and I think THAT will be the send off, they just wont announce it's the final thing until it's out. Thats my theory. -

I agree with your analysis
Simpsons executive in charge is doing a classic trumpian misdirect: look here! no 2 hour grand finale for us; but all along the 40 writers are putting together such an event -

It will be like the walking dead comics where Robert Kirkman even sent out cover art for future issues but then randomly made issue 193 the finale, like people were expecting the issue to start off the arc to a big event for issue 200 but it just abruptly ended with a send off wrap up issue. Fucking Rick
just got shot by some ****** in his bed after surviving so much
and then it just ended like wtf
The season before the movie will end normally like the writer said, and the movie will be the send off, and we wont know it's the end until the end of the movie.
