Do you think that 'DCTT' is of the same high quality as the series was/is, or do you think that it simply doesn't measure up to the original show's 5 series?

It's definitely not as fresh and exciting as the series, but still funny. I thought the plot was mediocre at best, but it's still worth watching if you're a Kids in the Hall fan, just to see all the guys together again, doing their thing.
In Brain Candy, I felt that Mark McKinney was the one who stood out as the most versatile at playing any kind of character, but in DCTT, I think Scott Thompson is the one that shines. He only plays 3 roles, fewer than any of the other guys, but each one is completely different, well developed and believable. I also liked Kevin's lawyer character. Kevin isn't as versatile an actor as Mark or Scott, but there are certain types of characters he does well and that lawyer was one of them. -

Well for me personally, I just loved Mark McKinney's performance as Death in this series SO much! I just thought he was wonderfully hilarious in the role and was definitely the main standout character for me. Scott Thompson was also a real hoot as Dusty, who to me was probably both the second best and memorable character in the series after McKinney's. And I also quite enjoyed Dave Foley's Marilyn Bowman and Bruce McCulloch's Mayor Larry Bowman and Big City Lawyer characters.
Like you said though, it certainly wasn't as innovative or as funny overall as the original series was/is, but for me it was still very much a solidly enjoyable and humorous 8-part series, and a seriously fun time viewing experience all around.
