Heh, I have to admit I had difficulty to hold the tears at some points as well, and I'm a 30 y/o guy. Something about animals just makes things more real and emotional for me. I think one of the only other films I really did cry was Watership Down (even weirder to cry with that one since it's an animated film but I was still a kid) but I guess the same thing for it being about animals, pure beings, what makes it even more sad than if the same thing were to happen to a human being.
And I commend the crying, wish I wasn't raised that it's weak for boys/men to cry.
