A new biography on Ken Russell is out. It's called PHALLIC FRENZY: KEN RUSSELL & HIS FILMS, by Joseph Lanza (from Chicago Review Press). It includes an analysis of THE LAIR OF THE WHITE WORM.

How many people know what phallic means, but I highly recommend this book as an intro to Ken and his films. Even though I don't believe the phallus is as important to Russell and his films, as the author thinks.
And I'll answer my own question. The author discusses this film from p. 278-285 and (with 3 photos from the film.)
I also highly recommend "More Things Than Are Dreamt Of . . ." by James Ursini, who talks about this film from p. 37-39 (with a photo from the film.)
Not as much coverage as the other book, but the author has several interesting things to say about the film. For example, how much you like this film may depend upon how much you like silly. And he makes a nice comparison of the similarities and differences between the film and the book upon which the films is based. Bram Stoker's "Lair of the white Worm."
