As a resident of the North East of England I must admit to being a bit dissapointed that our local legend THE LAMBTON WORM was relocated to Scotland and renamed the D'Ampton worm. It was PARTICULARLY annoying to hear our local song THE LAMBTON WORM altered for the early dance sequence with its great chorus completely removed

If one is from Wearside, then one actually might be glad that the film is not set in Wearside, as Ken Russell has said that he deliberately wrote the characters to be as dense as the residents where the film supposedly takes place. The place here being rural Derbyshire.
