I think one of the main reasons I liked this was not because it was a "sci-fi" type of movie, but because it came from the mind of Mel Brooks, and he was a total genius! I don't think I've ever seen a Mel Brooks movie that I didn't thoroughly enjoy!

Wow! I can't believe I haven't seen this movie before. What a fantastic cast. I would totally still watch it, simply because of Mel Brooks.

Yes they do.
And there is also music.
Plus lots of cameos by well known stars such as Paul Newman.
I checked out the first couple of minutes.
If you watch note how they do the 20th Century logo before the credits.
It is very clever.

Still holds up so well. Gag after gag after gag. I laugh throughout the whole thing every time I watch this.
