If I remember correctly - and someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but Carlton Whitfield was some kind of distance cousin who went to New York from a little farm town and got back with a tattoo and a mohawk. I think his mom is telling that story when they're standing at the hay stack in the beginning.

I have a different question: Why wasn't John Candy in the movie credits? In his own page, the title isn't even listed! Often, they list it later & say "uncredited", but NOT this time!!!
