Of all the 80s movies that were the absolute epitome of the 80s, where does this one rank.

I'd have to say, off the top of my head, the competition is:
      Robocop
      Karate Kid
      Footloose
      Heathers
      Maybe Escape from New York

When it comes to the most popular movies of the 80's,
          The Lost Boys
often shows up on many of these top ten lists (from what I've seen). So yeah, placing it somewhere in the top ten movies that epitomize the decade seems right to me. It's easily the most popular vampire movie of the 80's (fans of other beloved vamp flicks might disagree).
Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!

Oh man there's so many great films from the '80s. It was just a truly great decade for lots of things, not just movies.

Out of all the movies that really captured the 80's, I would say this would be somewhere in the Top 20. E.T. probably would be first in my opinion or a least Top 3.

It's top of all time for me!, But other great 80s movies
The Karate Kid Trilogy (Yes I love all 3)
                  Best of the Best
                  Fright Night
                  The Running Man
                  Labyrinth
I could go on but these are the ones off the top of my head, that I still love!

You're completely right! I don't know how I forgot that!
