Kind ofit was actually a restaurant, not a club.
385 North, on La Cienega Boulevard in Los Angeles, was the 1st restaurant Roy Yamaguchi opened. Roy is a famous chef who invented "Hawaiian Fusion" cooking. If you watch PBS or Food Network, you can usually catch him on his show "Hawaii Cooks" & I think he was in a few episodes of Iron Chef America. My hubby & I are big fans & own a few of his cookbooks. He now owns a small but elite "chain" of restaurants, appropriately named Roy's. I think there are some 20-30 Roy's Restaurants all over the world. (I'm kind of excited cause I'm lucky enough to have a Roy's in my city, (Austin, Texas), & am going there this weekend for my anniversary. Can't wait!)
So 385 North opened in 1984 & Roy was named "California Chef of the Year" in '86 & '87, right around the time this movie was made. (Actually, I'm guessing that it was because Roy was CA's top chef 2 yrs running that the 385 North restaurant was used in the movie since it was THE restaurant to be at back in the day.)
Interestingly enough, Roy left 385 North the very next year, in '88, moved to Hawaii, & opened his first Roy's restaurant. I have no idea what happend to the 385 North restaurant, but I assume it closed it's doors once Roy dissolved his partnership.
Kind of interesting. I had no idea about any of this until I was reading about Roy this morning & made the Beverly Hills Cop/385 North connection in my head.

Demolished now. It was empty for years. Generic offices on the site.
          Meh!
