Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Beverly Hills Cop II

    Dan_Garten — 22 years ago(August 18, 2003 10:34 AM)

This movie is pretty much a carbon copy of the original, but for some reason, I like it more than the original. I'm not that impressed with the original. In II, I think Eddie Murphy is funnier, and plot isn't nearly as boring as the one in the original. This is a strange case of a copycat sequel, that somehow is better.

I'd like to see Lawrence Taylor, Neil Young, Chris Cooper or Jeff Bridges as a criminal genius opposite Eddie Murphy.

            I Like this one too
Bridgette Nelson is so easy to make fun off, and Axel does it flawlessly
It also has some great scenes, like the Playboy Mansion, and when Axel cons the construction workers out of working
I like the music track that plays whenever some sort of dealy is going down
(The one that plays during the opening bank heist, and later is played throughout the movie)
I like how in this one, you really get to the the hilarious side of Rosewood, what with his guns and all

This is definitely the best one of the three, despite being, yes, a virtual carbon copy of the original. The cast is a much better ensemble Dean Stockwell, Jrgen Prochnow, Hugh Hefner in a cameo, even Brigitte Nielsen is tolerable (pretty good, actually, by comparison with other roles I've seen her in) since she's not paired with Stallone.
Despite having only a few scenes, Prochnow's portrayal of Maxwell Dent really makes the movie for me.

In a matter of fact, her best performances/movies were the ones with former ex-husband,Sly Stallone ("Rocky IV" & "Cobra"). She's terrible in both "Red Sonja" and "BHC2".

If its a copy of the original then its better than it love. Better story, better bad guys, and Axel is funnier in this. Oh yeah and look out for Chris Rock in a cameo as a valet.

Very similar structurally to the original, yes, but I like the original just slightly better. They're both great, though.

                        Yes, you are crazy.
The first was almost an all ad lib movie and funny as you see the actors can't stop laughing. This was like a Lethal Weapon I movie.
                        My opinion.
